Having moved to Oxton over twenty years ago after living overseas for a decade and a brief spell in Liverpool, this morning it is easy to reflect back fondly. It has been a good choice.
We were attracted by the conservation village and nearby streets – the mix of architecture, the trees and amenities. Immediately we became aware of the sense of community in the area and this had been crucial to our choices when moving overseas. Having viewed many properties, it took a year to find the right place.
Artists are in abundance in the area – drawn by the mixture of Georgian, Victorian and post war homes and practically there have been many flats available. The village is also adjacent to the Williamson Art Gallery with its wonderful collections and changing exhibitions. Oxton is part of Birkenhead, with access to trains within fifteen minutes walk and buses. Birkenhead Park is nearby, the vast space was designed to be the lungs for the area providing space for those with yards or no outdoor areas to exercise and appreciate nature.
Today I will be at Oxton Village Market to promote two events in the area – the Oxton Art Fair and Oxton Open Studios .
