New photography

I have had the pleasure over many years since I was a student of working with different photographers. Most recently I have been working with Matthew Thomas of Imago Studio. We have known each other for many years. I showed his work at MerseyBio when I was curating there and also facilitated his exhibition coming to the Williamson Art Gallery.

Dial it forward to a few months ago when we worked with another long time associate Gill Alleyne who I met in 2013, then a science teacher. At that time she joined in with recycling classes funded by MRWA in the run up to an exhibition I curated at the Williamson called “de-junk, re-junk”. She later set up Dandelion and Web to teach people about making clothes and using sewing machines, and was one of our makers at the first Wirral MakeFest. She stepped in to model my work earlier than initially planned and has been in the recent images by Matthew that I have shared. She stepped in as Lauren was unable to be there. Now it is Lauren’s turn and these are my behind the scenes shots.

A little more from Matthew

My journey as a professional photographer began many years ago, evolving from a background in painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

My multifaceted roles include being a lead artist, steering projects with a creative vision that extends beyond the lens.

Beyond personal projects, my work finds a home in the collections of notable individuals such as Craig Charles and Cathy Tyson.

NB Matthew is based at Make in Argyle Street in Birkenhead. Home to many individual artists, good workshop space and soon to have a cafe which should be a major draw. Located very near Future Yard.
