Proof I have been a long time in this! Take a look back to my final year at Edinburgh College of Art, here is photo of me by Kate Garner formally of Haysi Fantayzee, for the Telegraph 1989-90. Also photographed at the same time was Pail from Timorous Beasties now a very famous wallpaper design company. It was around the same time that former labour leader Neil Kinnock said of my work on seeing it at The New Designers in London -“ it’s quite good” – damming with faint praise!

The negotiations around the photograph involved my then tutor the late Dorothy Hogg, negotiating a taxi would courier me to the giant warehouse in London after my business class flight – all expenses paid. I arrived with my work in a gutted DAN SET box with straps around. No lightweight suitcases with handy wheels in those days. A real eye opener for me- make up done, hair done etc.

Just shifted some of my archived wearables to the studio as I have been making larger recently so you never know what 2025 might bring. I am wearing a wire corset, hat with hatpin and shoes all made entirely of recycled materials. #makersgonnamake #handmade #wearableart #youngerme
