I proposed and applied sometime ago for an exhibition about flowers from the North West region of England to the Atkinson in Southport. Late last month I received a message saying would we like the February to March slot. So ideas that had been slowly percolating have had to be ramped up. The reason why we have been offered this particular slot is to tie in with the end of Ruth Moillet’s exhibition. More of who we are will be outlined in a future post.
I went to visit yesterday Moillet’s exhibition yesterday and scope out our space. I knew her work from exhibiting at the first Liverpool Design Show many many years ago and from Crafts magazines. At the time single colour of metal and fairly regimented and large in scale – very dramatic. Now colour and diversity of materials have become evident and really contact with the community, climate change and looking at her surroundings. Some similarity to the nine giant flowers I did in 2022 for Wirral Environmental Network and to Ling Warlow’s giant natural dyed paper flowers. Here are her pieces and I think our exhibition Floribunda will complement hers very well.
